Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace are priced very similarly. Though Microsoft has announced a price increase on July 1, 2026. Google will quite likely follow with an increase soon thereafter.

Microsoft 365 Basic includes:
Web and mobile versions only. No desktop installs.
Teams
Word
Excel
PowerPoint
One Note (1 TB cloud storage per user) Outlook (50 GB of storage per user)
SharePoint
Plus some additional rare use apps such as Planner.
Co-pilot is an added cost.

Google Workspace Basic includes:
Web and mobile versions only. No desktop installs
Meet
Docs
Sheets
Slides
Drive
Gmail (can be a domain email such as yourname@yourcompany.com).
Chat
Forms
Sites
Plus some additional rare use apps such as Jamboard. You get 30 GB of storage per user. Big
Plus! Gemini is included in every plan.
The more expensive plans include more apps and more storage.
The best choice comes down to how you already work. If your team relies heavily on desktop software, complex spreadsheets or Word-formatted documents, Microsoft 365 is the stronger fit. If you prioritize real-time collaboration, easy file sharing and working from any device with minimal setup, Google Workspace shines.
If you’re just starting out and building your company, Google Workspace is possibly the least expensive and the easiest to implement. While businesses with existing Microsoft ecosystems rarely benefit from switching. When in doubt, both offer free trials — test before you commit.
